Pupil Voice and Responsibilities

As part of our citizenship education, we believe that children need to experience duties and responsibilities that come with being a member of a community in order to help them prepare to play an active role as citizens. Nurturing good leaders is an important element of our school and develops pupil’s citizenship.

School Council

School Council gives children a voice; Council members represent the other children in their year group and are involved in decisions which affect all pupils. School Council members are chosen democratically by children in each year group.

Head Pupils

Head pupils are chosen democratically by all the pupils. Depending on numbers in the Year 6 there may be two Head Boys, two Head Girls or one of each. The post is held for the year. Head pupils sit on the school council and are involved in making decisions.

School Prefects

School Prefects also work as part of our team and contribute to our school community; they have a very important role to play in the day to day organisation of our school.  Prefects are chosen by staff in the school.

Head pupils, Prefects and School Councillors in the school work with the teachers to make our school the best it can be.
