Welcome to Kestrel Class!
Mornings: The children need to put their packed lunch bags/boxes on the shelves outside ‘Woodpecker’ then come into the classroom alone and settle quickly to the morning task. If there are any issues or messages to pass on in the morning please do this via the office, as I’m sure you’ll understand making the most of every moment to teach is important to us all. The register is taken at 8:50, if your child arrives after this time they will need to sign in with Mrs Langston in the office, collect a green slip then pass it on to the class teacher.
PPA: My PPA (planning, preparation and assessment) time will be on Tuesday afternoons. The class will be covered during this time by Forest School, PH Sports and Mrs Meredith on a rolling programme with the other classes.
P.E: Kestrel class will have PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please make sure your child has their kit available in school all week.

Curriculum Map:
Term 1 – Invaders and Settlers
Homework: Government guidelines for year 5 and 6 are that they should spend 30 minutes on homework each day. With this in mind, I have organised homework as per the tables below for each year group. I envisage the English (reading and SPAG together) and maths tasks to each take approx. 30 minutes. The project task should also take approximately 30 minutes per week, leaving around 60 minutes for spelling, reading and times tables practice. Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and due in on Mondays.
Homework Projects:
Spellings:
Spellings will be given out on a Monday and tested the following Monday.
