Anti-Bullying Statement

At St Thomas à Becket CE Primary School, every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected. Bullying—whether physical, verbal, emotional, online, or discriminatory—is not tolerated in any form. We are committed to creating an environment where all pupils learn and thrive without fear.

Our Commitment

  • Safeguarding First
Guided by the EQUA Mead Learning Trust’s overarching safeguarding and child protection policy, we recognise our duty to proactively promote children’s wellbeing and swiftly address any concerns—any form of bullying included. Safeguarding underpins all we do and takes precedence over all other considerations.

  • Inclusive and Respectful Culture
Reflecting the Trust’s values around inclusion and dignity, we cultivate a positive and inclusive school culture where differences are embraced and every child is celebrated. We prioritise dignity over deficit, acknowledging that every child contributes meaningfully to our community.

  • Trained and Responsive Staff
All staff undergo regular, statutory safeguarding training to recognise and respond effectively to bullying. We are committed to early intervention and support for any child who experiences or witnesses bullying. Robust recruitment practices ensure our school community is both safe and principled.

What We Do

  1. Clear Reporting Channels
Children, parents, and staff are encouraged to report bullying without fear—whether to class teachers, the Headteacher (Designated Safeguarding Lead), or other trusted members of staff.

  2. Swift, Fair Action
We investigate all reports promptly and impartially, always aiming to support and safeguard everyone involved.

  3. Support and Education
We address underlying causes, support restorative conflict resolution, and educate pupils on empathy, kindness, online safety, and mutual respect.

  4. Ongoing Monitoring
Staff work together to monitor the school climate, ensure interventions are effective, and adapt strategies to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
