Administrative Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and conscientious Receptionist/Admin Assistant who will support parents, staff and pupils in our busy Office. This job is varied so requires the ability to multi-task and complete tasks efficiently in short timeframes. You will need a good sense of humour and be a team player.

This job would suit someone who has excellent IT and organisational skills, enjoys customer contact and is able to work under pressure.

Initial training will be arranged during October depending on experience, then 4 days a week from 2nd November 2020 with some flexibility to allow for cover for the School Finance Officer. Hours of work will be agreed with the successful candidate and will be term time only and include 5 INSET training days.

Duties will include:


    • Providing a friendly reception for all visitors and members of our school community.
    • General administrative support to the Head teacher and staff.
    • Assisting in stationery stock control of curriculum resources.
    • Carrying out monthly first aid checks on medical supplies.
    • Checking and distributing deliveries into school.
    • Using IT to support the office needs including School Comms and SIMS (training will be provided if necessary).
    • Be a first aider to children and staff.
    • Answering general enquiries on the phone, by email and in person.

The successful candidate will:


    • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact with a wide range of adults and children.
    • Have excellent administrative and organisational skills and be able to work under pressure.
    • Have excellent IT skills and use MS Office Packages (Word and Excel), experience with School Comms and SIMS would be desirable.
    • Have an ability to prioritise and remain calm.
    • Have experience of working with children (incl. voluntary work) and deal effectively with any first aid needs (training provided).
    • Be able to deal with all matters in a confidential and professional manner.
    • Be educated to a good standard (minimum: GCSE Grade C English and Maths, or equivalent).
    • Be flexible and able to use own initiative, multi-task and problem solve.
    • Have an awareness of health and safety and GDPR (data protection) in schools would be desirable.
    • Contribute to the safeguarding ethos within the school.

An induction will be provided to the successful candidate.
